| 1) Acne and pimples, are they same? |
|
|
A rash which comes up usually only
on the face during youth(13-30yrs) is usually pimples or in
medical rems `acne`.

By and large it doesn`t.Those who are
very conscious or can`t tolerate its existence are affected
more.

| 3) Why does one get Acne? |
|
Well it is part of normal
growth process.During puberty, adolescence a boy becomes a man
and a girl becomes a woman. That is when hormones come into
play.The sebaceous glands(oil producing glands ) are a slave
to the male hormone. In women, a small amount of male hormone
comes from the ovaries and adrenals.

Acne? |

Oil which is on the skin gets split by
bacteria normally present on the skin into an irritant fatty
acid component, which acts on the pore resulting in acne
because of closure of the pore.(microcomedone which eventually
become blackheads or open comedones and whiteheads or closed
comedones). v

FACE WASH AND ANOTHER THREE TIMES WITH PLAIN WATER OR WET

Acne are due to hereditary factors.In some
occur due to hormonal disturbances or because of some
medication they are on.At times acne can happen because of use
of some comedogenic creams/lotions on face for example oil of
olay.

| 7) Is dandruff responsible for acne? |
|
|
Dandruff is oiliness of
the scalp. It occurs at the same time when acne appear on the
face.Oiliness is a response to the male hormone
and which comes into existence at puberty.Both occur at the
same time.,same reasons and hence this notion that dandruff falling on
the face is responsible for acne.Actually there is no such
relationship.Both occur independently,may coexist or one of
them more prominent.

then why treat them? |

Acne disappear in some soon and some they
take longer. Since they occur on the face, they definitely
affect the appearances and person suffering from them, feel
self conscious and at times withdraw from social occasions.
Besides acne in some leave behind pits or scars. Scars take
years to disappear. Yet there are no effective ways of
treating scars. Hence if acne are treated early, effectively,
appearances are enhanced, scars prevented. If the face can be
preserved spotless, it goes a long way in feeling confident
and loveable. |

Treatment is very
effective.There are creams,face washes.Antibiotics by mouth
help.But latest a wonder drug,isotretinoin, is now available
which can result in acne disappearing permanently.
